MATTHEW M. DeCARLO, B.A.Associate Archaeologist EDUCATION
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCEMr. DeCarlo began doing professional archaeology in 2006 when he graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Anthropology and is now pursuing his M.A. in anthropology at CSU, Bakersfield. He has performed archaeological research and cultural resource management throughout California, including the San Joaquin Valley, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Tehachapi Mountains, the Eastern Mojave Desert, and the northeastern Sonoran Desert, as well as the Bennett Hills of southern Idaho. While working for a cultural resource management firm associated with CSU Bakersfield, Mr. DeCarlo led archaeological survey crews, trained students in proper excavation methods, performed lithic and faunal analyses, constructed GIS maps, participated in large scale research projects, and presented findings at archaeological conferences. As Acting District Archaeologist for the U.S. Forest Service, he worked intensively with Federal regulations and special interest groups and has developed the ability to work collaboratively with various groups on multi-phase projects. |
