Associate Archaeologist

ASM has an opening for a full-time associate archaeologist in our Carlsbad, California office. This position consists of a 50/50 split between field and office duties. The Associate Archaeologist will be responsible for conducting technical studies in a timely and efficient manner within budget. Candidates must be able to prepare written material with very little oversight and supervisor input and prepare technical reports in a standard format. The position requires an individual who can conduct original research and review previously prepared archaeological and historical materials and formulate archaeological and historical contexts, determine the sensitivity of projects, and make well-founded recommendations based upon this information. The candidate will be required to manage small-scale CEQA projects to completion. This position also requires the ability to travel and conduct extended field rotations. Good working knowledge of prehistoric periods a must.
Education Requirements:
B.A. or M.A. in Anthropology
Experience:
5+ years of local professional experience for B.A., or
an M.A. and 3+ years of experience which should include
at least 1 year of experience in any Southwestern state.

Principal Investigator

Description:
ASM Affiliates, Inc., an archaeological firm with
offices in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Wyoming is
seeking a Principal Investigator for its Reno, Nevada
office. A Ph.D. in Anthropology with ten or more years
of professional experience, excellent writing skills,
and prior field supervision experience required.
Specialization in Nevada/Great Basin archaeology
mandatory, with experience in the California desert
and/or historical archaeology preferred. Skills in
artifact or paleobotanical analysis a bonus. Candidate
will work closely with other ASM staff members and under
the direction of ASMs Principals.
