PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Barry Stiefel earned his
Ph.D. in Historic Preservation at
Tulane University and
has professional, volunteer, and academic experiences
across North America, the Caribbean, South America, and
the Middle East. These experiences have included
preservation planning projects, historic building
surveys, historic building nominations, historic
building reports, creating archival inventories,
designing historic house museums, and genealogy
research.
Stiefel’s doctoral dissertation was on the
History and Preservation of the Synagogues Associated in
the Atlantic World, 1636-1822.
He is interested in
how the sum of how local preservation efforts affects
regional, national, and multi-national policies within
the field of cultural resource management and heritage
conservation.
